Charles Anastase

Not only is he one of my favorite illustrators, he is also one of my favorite designers.
Charles Anastase is one I would call accomplished.
His work is shear poetry.

His Spring/Summer 09 collection was inspired by Degas' ballerinas and Nabokov's Lolita, recurring themes in all of Anastase's work.
The ideal wardrobe for the ultimate femme enfant.

As for his drawings, they speak for themselves.

Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll

Tonight we celebrate Le Baron's 4th anniversary!
It's gonna be rockabilly!

What kind of crazy costume have you got planned for ce soir...?
It had better be good, cause it's getting really cold outside.

Quadrophenia

is a 1979 British film based on the 1973 rock opera album Quadrophenia by The Who.
The film, set in 1964, follows the story of Jimmy Cooper (Phil Daniels), a London Mod (a group of fashion obsessed working class youths who listen to american soul music, take amphetamines and ride Vespas).
The Mods' arch-enemies are the Rockers, who in turn wear black leather and ride motorcycles.
Disillussioned by his parents and a dead end job, Jimmy finds an outlet for his teenage angst with his Mod mates.
However, his distress and confusion are compounded by the fact that one of his Rocker rivals is in fact a childhood friend.

...

i love this blog

Saul Bass

was one of my great influences.
He was an american graphic designer and Academy Award winning filmaker, but he was best known for his design on animated motion picture title sequences, which is thought of as the best such work ever seen.

If the name does not ring a bell, his work will.
He is the author of titles such as Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, Vertigo and North By Northwest, Otto Premminger's Anatomy Of a Murder, John Fankenheimer's Grand Prix, Kubrick's Spartacus, Scorsese's Casino.
The list is long.

His work is what turned graphic design into an art form.
He was an avant gardiste, a visionary and forever a great source of inspiration.

Margot Tenenbaum

is a character I often refer to.
Today, I'm sort of in a Margot Tenenbaum mood.
That's how much this female of fiction talks to me.
I've turned her into a mood.
She represents somthing timeless, a period that cannot be placed in a world that does not exist.

Moon Palace

Marco Stanley Fogg is an orphan, a child of the sixties, a quester tirelessly seeking the key to his past, the answer to the ultimate riddle of his fate. As Marco journeys from the canyons of Manhattan to the deserts of Utah, he encounters a gallery of characters and a series of events as rich and surprising as any in modern fiction.

Beginning during the summer that men first walked on the moon, and moving backward and forward in time to span three generations, Moon Palace is propelled by coincidence and memory, marked by tragedy and redemption, and illuminated by marvelous flights of lyricism and wit. Here is the most entertaining and moving novel yet from an author well known for his breathtaking imagination.

Hell Yes !

Melodious Mood of the Moment

Our story begins on a sunday afternoon
Just between halfway tree and spanish town
Where a young boy
Not yet the cock o’ the walk that he would soon become,
Was lying on the grass and takin’ in the sweet and sensuous scent of hibiscus
That languidly lilted along the summer breeze

It was at this precise moment that he saw her.
Her walk was soft and delicate with a thaumaturgical touch
That only a rabbi’s daughter could have
Before their eyes had even met
Her luminous lips had already lured him in
Salvation winked with the promise of a briss held at pinnacle
And a congregation of sages bunny hopping and chicken dancing to yiddish mento

Then their eyes linked
An aeon blinked amharic vows were scryed upon their hearts
Just to think this could all be with a frenectomy and a few words of love.

Introducing...

Photo: Julien Weber

I should have probably started of with an introduction before expecting anyone to take the slightest interest in whatever I had to say, show or share.
But I won't, because I just couldn't be bothered.

Just kidding.
(this is most definitely turning out to be a very painful display of public humiliation... but as a said earlier on, I'm bored.)

I am Noemi aka Sunshine, I will be one of your hosts throughout the existance of this blog.
I live in Paris with my manfriend Fab the pool boy (please don't ask me why the pool boy, you will open up Pandora's box) and our catfriend, Kitsuné Midnight, the offspring of pure evil, where we lead a rather good life.
I am an illustrator and a djette. I draw for press and campaigns, but mostly enjoy it when it's just for me. And I am a resident djette at a tiny little club called Le Baron, my favorite place in the whole wide world!
"Where everybody knows your name!"
(musn't drift away from the subject.)
So that sort of sums it up: Paint & Party.
Not too shabby for Sunshine.
Hope you'll enjoy the ride.

Welcome!

xx.

Bla Bla Bla

I'm so mind blowingly bored...
So I decided to start a blog and document my boredom.
So here we go.
